GUIDELINES ON THE ESTABLISH- MENT OF WORKERS’ COUNCILS— GUIDELINES FOR MANAGERS A: HOW TO Institute Successful Workers Participation in your Company Question: How should you go about establishing a workers par- ticipation programme in your company? Answer : 1. Establishment of Workers Council Since some of the members have to be drawn from the Company’s Workers’ Committee and TANU branch, it is advisable for a Manager to follow the following steps: (a) Ensure that a Workers’ Committee has been for- med in the Company in accordance with the procedure outlined in the Security of Employment Act 1964. Contact your local NUTA official for guidance. (b) Ensure that the Company has its own TANU branch formed; if not arrange for one to be for- med. This is done by contacting your district TANU officials who will be happy to assist you in forming this body. NOTE: Non-citizens cannot join either NUTA (Workers Committee) or TANU.
