normally formed tertiary follicles and a larger num-
ber of corpora lutea.Both large and small doses of
depo-progesterone to some extent cause the luteini-
zation of follicles,which had an adverse effect upon
the working of PMS,

The best results in the synchronization of estrus
were achieved with PMS.In the course of the first 10
days following the treatment 73,1% of sows came on
heat and 88,2% of them conceived and farrowed L1l
piglets in the litter on the average.The characte-
ristic features of histological findings in this
group were strong hyperemia of the whole ovary and a
greater number of somewhat larger normally formed
tertiary follicles than in the other experimental
groups and controls.The above findings suggest a sti-
mulating effect of PMS upon the ovarial function in
