MATERIALS AND METHODS, The study, conducted at the Institute of Animal Husbandry, Araneta University, Malabon, Rizal, Philippines from August 1966 to January 1967, made use of three hundred fifty (350) ten-month old Single Comb White leghorn layers and ten (10) eight-month old Single Comb White Leghorn roosters, The fertility and hatchability of chicken eggs were obtained, The average volume of semen collected, the number of chicks hatched, and the number of chicks dead in shell, and also the number of dead germs were recorded, DISCUSSION OF RESULTS. The average volume of semen collected from the different roosters was 0,209 mil, which is milky in consistency. 1t is evident that the sperm count ranges from 30 to 60 million per eja=- culation, A total of 24,883 eggs were set throughout the study, The percentage fertility was satisfactory, Out of the total number of eggs set, there were 22,056 that were fertile, It could be seen, therefore, that the percentage fertility ranged from 82,69% to 95.64% or with a mean of 89,31 ¥ 1,85%, The per cent infer= tile ranged from 4,35 to 17,31% or with a mean of 10,68 ¥ 0,85%, A total of 17,961 chicks hatched, The mean per- centage hatchability was 81,42 ¥ 1,38%, the range being from 66,85% to 90,07%, Likewise, the per cent hatch ranged from 57,60% to 81,88% with a mean of 2:83 %1,52%, With regard to the number of dead germs and dead in shell, it was found out that the per cent dead germs ranged from 1,24% to 11,95%, with a mean of 5,15 ¥ 2,05%, while the dead in shell ranged from zeroto 42,27% or a mean of 17,52 ¥ 2,08%, 1180
