A field trial comprising a large number of inseminations
is now going on, comparing the conception rate for semen
frgzen in ampulles and straws, thawed in ice water and at
7§ C for 12 sec. respectivly.

Summary .

A fast thawing method for bull semen frozen in straws is
described. gy increasing the temperature of the thawing
water to 75°C and keeping the straws in the water for 12
sec., a considerably higher percentage of unstained sper-
matozoa was found, than by thawing at 35 C. In a field
trial (305 ins.) semen frozen in straws and thawed at 75?C
in 12 sec. gave a 1,6% higher N.R. rate than semen frozen
in ampulles and thawed in ‘ice water.

Zusammenfassung.

Es wird eine neue Auftaumethode fiir in Plastikrdrchen
eingefrorenes Ringersperma beschrieben. Auftauen in einem
Wasserbad von +75°C fiir 12 sec. ergab im Vergleich zum
Auftauen bei +35°C einem erheblich h8heren Prozentsatz
ungefarbter Spermien.(Eosin-Nigrosin). Mit solchem in
Plastikrdrchen eingefrorenem und bei +75°C aufgetautem
Sperma konnte bei 305 Besamungen ein um 1,6% besseres
Non-Return - Ergebnis erzielt werden als mit in Ampullen
eingefrorenem und in Eiswasser aufgetautem Sperma.
