Learn how all people need respectful relationships and families of
some sort.

Inspire students to reflect on the facts that not all families interact
in the same way and that not all respectful relationships involve
people who are blood relations.

Act by treating one another with the respect that all people deserve
and need.

and Knowledge

Students will learn about the diverse cultural perspectives that influ-
ence literature through different retellings of the story “Cinderella.”
Students will learn about their own cultures and others’ cultures by
reflecting on their families and the family and friends of Muluken,
a character who lives in India. This also develops their cross—cultural
perspective taking.

Students will link the local (their own families and friends) to the
