Now when it is moderate, but the humor that is overheated is rather thick, then neither lentils nor tragacanth should be added, for ingredients that will make it more volatile will suf— fice. But when it is immoderate and more violent than it should be, or when the matter expelled is observed to be too volatile, you will do well to add lentils and tragacanth to the ingredients mentioned above, for by this means you will moder— ate the ebullition. 'This should often be done in the case of sputum also, when its consistency is thinner than it should be. I shall say no more about these fevers.
