Mooseheart Legion For Men and Women
ing to the progress made by this legion last year there is reason to believe that it may move up a notch or two by the end of 1920. Wild West Legion initiated some very large classes of candidates during 1919 and it will be interesting, to watch the progress made in that territory during the remainder of 1920. Herder W. G. Lecky of Seattle and Great North Moose E. E. Fisher of Port Angeles, Wash., are not making any declarations as to just how big they will grow by the end of this year, but neither are they making any remarks to the effect that they will not be in the vicinity of first place.
Mecca Legion, No. 11, held a big-two day picnic and Frolic at MOOSE-HEART on September 5th and 6th, initiating about 200 candidates. Inasmuch as Labor Day was included in this and everybody was on a vacation the attendance was swelled above the average. The Mooseheart Band Boys gave the visiting Legionaires a fine concert and furnished music on other occasions during the two days. A big_ parade was held which was participated in by the men, women and children. Every Legionaire attended with his entire family and and many stayed over night! in tents put up on the Mooseheart grounds. A big athletic program was enjoyed which included events for men and women of the Legion, as well as for their children. The Pie-eating record was broken in that contest.
Pittsburgh, Pa., Legion No. 1, has made good its promise that it would soon become one of the leading Legions in the main organization. The Legionaires in the Pittsburg District along with a fine set of officers of that Legion have made a most prominent increase in membership, and have placed their Legion treasury in a most substantial position. Herder Fred Brigman and Great North Moose Jas. J. Davis are still working very hard to mak-e the success of their Legion a most certain proposition. Several big Frolics have been planned for the coming Fall and Winter in that territory which promise to outdo any affairs which have ever been held in the Pittsburgh Legion District No. 1, which .means that the legionaires in that territory are assured of big doings for many months to come. Herder Brig-man has been giving the Legion work his particular attention during the past few months with the idea in mind that his Legion should be considered one of the finest in the Legion world.
WOMEN’S LEGION WILL AIM AT
NEW CHAPTERS
The Women’s Legion will open the Fall and Winter season with a big campaign to increase the total number of chapters just as rapidly as possivle. Already this campaign has made great headway because many new chapters have been instituted since since the first of August. Many of the lodges of the L. O. O. M., which up to this time have not found it possible to start a woman’s auxiliary in connection with their lodge, have signified their intention of organizing an auxiliary just as soon as it can possibly be done, which means that by Spring of next year there will be over 100 new Women’s Legions organized. At this time there are 447 Women’s Legions which are operating very effectively throughout the L. O. M., and with the financial assistance of 100 more new organizations the Women’s Legion must then be recognized as a very constructive force in the maintenance of MOOSEHEART.

MEN’S LEGION NOTES
Davenport, Iowa, Legion No. 137, has been holding some Frolics recently which have attracted the attention of practically all of the middle western Legion because of their magnitude and the good times which everybody has had. It seems that the legionaires belonging to the Davenport District know how to put on a Frolic which is enjoyable to everybody because after they hold a Frolic in that particular district the news of the good times had spread very rapidly. It would be interesting to visit a Frolic held in this well known District.
Wolverine Legion No. 157, which was instituted at Detroit in April of this year has made a very remarkable growth since its institution. Brother Wm. Davis of Detroit promises that this is only the beginning and that as soon as the Fall and Winter season have passed Wolverine will be a close competitor for first place as far as membership is concerned in the Legion at large. The L. O. O. M. in Detroit has laid plans to build a fine Moose Home which will be one of the finest fraternal homes in the State of Michigan, and they promise that there will he many big Frolics enoyed in this new building.
Southwestern Idaho, Legion No. 98, which was instituted with the highest per cent of legionaires according to the Moose membership in that district, has not been heard from recently, but the Grand Regent’s office is watching this particular territory very closely to see what progress is made during this Fall and Winter. There is little doubt about this Legion not showing a big increase because it has many fine members who are very enthusiastic about the Legion and the fine work it is doing. It is the aim of this Legion to keep its percentage just as high as possible after it has made such a fine start. The coming-months will show much activity in that territory.
Ft. Wayne, Ind., Legion No. 18, which is the third largest Legion in the world, is growing very rapidly and has notified Mecca and Philadelphia Legions that if they expect to hold first and second places they had better step right along from this time on. The Legionaires will remember the Ft .Wayne team which was at the Convention this year as a very formidable one. Ft. Wayne will hold a monster Frolic very soon at which time they expect to initiate several hundred candidates. Ft. Wayne was the first Legion to_ publish a strictly Legion paper which is known as Alces Machlis.
Philadelphia Leg-ion, No. 3, held its summer Frolic on top of Mt. Penn, Pa., on Sunday, August 29. Twenty-three hundred journeyed by train from Philadelphia while more than a thousand others came by train, trolly and automobile from the other towns in the jurisdiction.
A class of nearly two hundred was ¡Initiated by Great North Moose A. H. Ladner, Jr., assisted by the officers of the eLgion.
Reading, Pa., Lodge entertained the visitors during the day and evening and the committee on reception under the leadership of Dictator John Longlott A-eceived congratulations and thanks from all the visitors for the very excellent entertainment.
