M. C. 65 Cordonnet No .60. A No 10 Steel Hook. Directions: Begin at the armhole on the right side with a ch of 66 sts. In 4th from the hook make 3 d c to form a solid sq of filet, 18 open meshes, 1 solid sq. Follow the pattern as seen in the illustration forming all the solid flower except the last 2 rows (15 rows in all). In next row make 4 open meshes, 2 solid, ch 3, si st in last d c of solid sq, ch 3, 3 solid sq over 3 solid sq, ch 3, si st in first d c of next solid sq, ch 3, 3 solid sq over 3 solid sq, 4 open meshes. In next row make 1 solid sq in first open mesh, 3 open meshes, 2 solid over first solid sq, 1 open mesh, ch 5, 3 solid sq over next 3 solid sq, ch 5, d c in first d c of next 2 solid sq, 2 open meshes, 1 solid, 2 open meshes, 1 solid. The open work around the filet needs no further instruction but may be worked by following the pattern as shown in the illustration same as for the filet. The (3 ch, si st, 3 ch) fills space equal to 2 filet squares and the next row has (d c, 5 ch, d c) over the 2 spaces. For the shoulder strip begin at the upper left corner of the front, make 3 open meshes, open work over 14 squares, 3 open meshes. Make 9 more rows like the last, then in the next begin the small figure in filet as seen in illustration. Make 3 of the figures with 5 rows between and then 11 rows same as in the beginning. For the back begin with 20 squares of filet same as in the front, work across as seen in the illustration. Join shoulder strips to the back with si st. Under the arm make a strip in filet of 6 open meshes in width and about 20 rows, then join. Finish the lower edge of the yoke with 3 s c in each square of .filet. For the inner edge make a com. treble over solid sq, ch 3, com. treble over next solid sq, and repeat. For the edge * ch 3, (d c, p, 1 ch, d c, p, 1 ch, d c) in combination treble, ch 3, si st in next combination treble, and repeat from *. Finish the sleeves in the same manner. LESSON ON CROCHET YOKE Seventh Row: 10 sp, 5 gr, 2 sp. Eighth Row: 2 sp, 15 ch sts, skip 5 gr. 10 sp, 7 ch sts.
