12 Then said he unto me, Son of man» hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery ? ror they say, The® Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth.
13 He said also unto me,Turn theeyet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.
. 14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord’s house which was toward the north ; and ^ behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
15 Then said he unto me, Hast thou
seen this, O son of man ? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater a abominations than these. . jt .
16 And he brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house ; and, behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between* the porch and the altar, were about fivek and twenty men, with their backs toward1 the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they

17 Then he said unto me, Hast tnou seen this, O son of man? uIs it a light thing t.o the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger; and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. ,
18 Therefore will I also deal in fury : mine eye shall not spare,9 neither will I have pity; and though* they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

HE cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. .
2 And. behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which 9 lieth toward the north, and every man a Kslaugh-ter-weapou in his hand; and one man a-mong them was clothed 5׳ with linen, with a writer’s ink-horn X by his side: and they, went in, and stood beside the brazen altar#
3 And the glory״ of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was,to the threshold of the house : and he called to the man clothed with linen,which had the writer’s ink-horn by his side;
4 And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and p set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh, and that cry, for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
5 And to the others he said in mine v hearing, Go ye after him through the city, ana smite;/ let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
6 Slay tr utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but* come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin1 at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which 7cere before the house.

23 Make a chain; for 6 the land is full of bloody crimes, the city is full of violence.
24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen,¿ and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease, and 7 their holy places* shall be defiled.
25 5 Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.
26 Mischief/ shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet: but the£ law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.
27 The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and £־according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I tt»t the Lord.
a CHAP. VIII.
AND it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the' month, as l sat in mine house, and the elders״ of Judah sat before me, that the® hand of the Lord God fell there upon me. ‘
2 Then L beheld, and, lo,Pa likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire ; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
3 And he put forth the form of an* hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and״ brought me m the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north, where ״ was the seat of the image ot jealousy, which provoketh w to jealousy.
4. And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw* in the plain.
5 Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north.® So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold, northward at the gate of the altar, this image of jealousy in the entry.
6 He said, furthermore, unto me, Son
of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here,* that I should go far off from* my sanctuary? But turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations. , , ׳ ,
7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall.
8 Then said he unto me, Son of man dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold, a door.
9 And he said unto me, Go in, and be
hold the wicked abominations^ that they do here. ,,
10 So I went in * and saw; and behold every* form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the Wall round about.
11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients’״ of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazamah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer ״ in his hand ; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

3 ולמעלה כמךאה־זהר כעין ההשכלה: _וישלח תבנית \ר הקהכי בציצוקז ראשי ותשא א׳תי דוה י בין־הארץ וביךהישמ:ם _ותבא אתי ירוצע^מה במךאות אלהים אל־פתח שער הפנימית הפונה צפונה אשר מום מושב סמל הקנאה המקנה:
4והנה־שם כבוד אלדד ;שראל כמראה אשר
5 ראיתי בבקעה: !יאמר אלי בן־אדם שא־נא עיניך דרך צפונה ^אשא עיני דרך צפונה והנה מצפון לשער המזבח סמל* הקנאה הוה
6 בבאה : ויאמר אלי בן־אך־ים הראה אהה

Non videt Dominus nos, dereliquit Dominus terram.
13 Et dixit ad me: Adhuc eonversus videbis abominationes rnajores, quas isti faciunt.
14 Et introduxit me per ostium portae domus Domini, quod respiciebat ad Aquilonem : et ecce ibi mulieres sede-bant plangentes Adonidem.
15 Et dixit ad me: Certe vidisti, fili hominis : adhuc eonversus videbis abominationes rnajores his.
16 Et introduxit me in atrium domus Domini interius : et ecce in ostio templi Domini inter vestibulum et altare, quasi vigintiquinque viri dorsa haben-tes contra tempi um Domini, et facies ad Orientem : et adorabant ad ortum Solis.
17 Et dixit ad me: Certe vidisti, fili hominis: numquid leve est hoc domui Juda ut facerent abominationes istas, quas fecerunt hic? quia replentes terram iniquitate conversi sunt ad irritandum me ? et ecce applicant ramum ad nares suas.
18 Ergo et ego faciam in furore : non parcet oculus meus, nec miserebor: et cum clamaverint ad aures meas voce magna, non exaudiam eos.

Et clamävit in auribus. meis voce magna, dicens : Appropinquaverunt
visitationes urbis, et unusquisque vas interfectionis habet in manu sua.

3 Et gloria Domini Israel assumpta est de cherub, quas erat super eum ad limen domus : et vocavit virum, qui in-dutus erat lineis, et atramentarium scriptoris habebat in lumbis suis.
4 Et dixit Dominus ad eum : Transi per mediam civitatem in medio Jerusalem : et signa thau super frontes viro-rum gementium, et dolentiam super cunctis abominationibus, quas fiunt in medio ejus.
5 Et illis dixit, audiente me: Transite per civitatem sequentes eum, et per-cutite: non parcat oculus vester, neque misereamini.
6 Senem, adolescentulum, et virgi-nem, parvulum, et mulieres interficite usque ad internecionem : omuem au-tem, super quem videritis thau, ne oc-cidatis, et a sanctuario meo incipite. Cceperunt ergo a viris senioribus, qui erant ante faciem domus.
7 Et dixit ad eos : Contaminate do-mum, et implete atria interfectis : egre-dirnini. Et egressi sunt, et percutie-bant eos, qui erant in civitate.
8 Et caede completa, remansi ego : ruique super faciem meam, et clamans aio: Heu, heu, heu, Domine Deus:
ibunt in illud eroissarii, et contamina-bunt illud.
23 Fac conclusionem : quoniam terra piena est judicio sanguinum, et civitas plena iniquitate.
24 Et adducam pessimos de Genti-bus, et possidebunt domos eorum : et quiescere faciam superbiam potentium, et possidebunt sanctuaria eorum.
25 Angustia superveniente, requirent pacem, et non erit.
26 Conturbatio super conturbationem veniet, et auditus super auditum : et quaerent visionem de propheta, et lex peribit a sacerdote, et consilium a senioribus.
27 Ilex lugebit, et princeps induetur moerore, et manus populi terras contur-babuntur. Secundum viam eorum fa-ciarn eis, et secundum judicia eorum judicabo eos : et scient quia ego Do-minus.

Et factum est in anno sexto, in sexto mense, in quinta mensis : ego sedebam in domo mea, et senes Juda sedebant coram me, et cecidit ibi super me manus Domini Dei.
2 Et vidi, et ecce similitudo quasi aspectus ignis: ab aspectu lumborum ejus, et deorsum, ignis : et a lumbis ejus, et sursum, quasi aspectus splen-doris, ut visio electri.
3 Et emissa similitudo manus appre-hendit me in cincinno capitis mei : et elevavit me Spiritus inter terram, et ccelum: et adduxit me in Jerusalem in visione Dei, juxta ostium interius, quod respiciebat ad Aquilonem, ubi erat sta-tutum idol um zeli ad provocandam semulationem.
4 Et ecce ibi gloria Dei Israel secundum visionem, quam videram in campo.
5 Et dixit ad me : Fili hominis, leva oculos tuos ad viam Aquilonis. Et levavi oculos meos ad viam Aquilonis: et ecce ab Aquilone portae altaris ido-lum zeli in ipso introitu.
6 Et dixit ad me: Fili hominis, pu-tasne, vides tu quid isti faciunt, abominationes magnas, quas domus Israel fa-cit hic, ut procul recedam a sanctuario meo? et adhuc eonversus videbis abominationes rnajores.
7 Et introduxit me ad ostium atrii : et vidi, et ecce foramen unum in pa-riete.
8 Et dixit ad me : Fili hominis, fode parietem. Et cum fodissem parietem, apparuit ostium unum.
9 Et dixit ad me: Ingredere, et vide abominationes pessimas, quas isti faciunt hic.
10 Et ingressus vidi, et ecce omnis similitudo reptilium, et. animalium, abominatio, et universa idola domus Israel depicta erant in pariete in cir-cuitu per totutn.
