possession (or would be Sold).—This magnificent residential Sporting Domain is situate about ten miles from Plymouth and Plympton, and eight from Ivy-bridge Stations, in the midst of one of the finest and most beautiful districts of South Devon, between the Rivers Erme and Yealm, with several miles of frontage to the coast, with its picturesque rugged under-cliffs and׳ an excellent safe harbour for yachts, with private boat house.
The Mansion, surrounded by lawns and pleasure grounds, is approached by carriage drives, through the property, with three entrance lodges, and the picturesque coast line is traversed by a most d'elight-tul drive, commanding fine sea views at all points, extending over six miles, cut a few years ago at enormous expense, and forming a great addition to the many attractions of the property. The accommodation of the house includes about 37 bed and dressing rooms, magnificent hall fitted with organ, good reception rooms and offices in proportion. It is fitted with electric light and gas, and a private telephone wire. A post and telegraph office is on the estate. The excellent stabling contains stalls and boxes for about 30 horses, and apartments for coachmen and grooms. The kitchen garden is extensive and productive, and the large number of hot-houses, etc., are replete with every convenience for their economical working. There is also a cricket ground and pavilion and covered lawn tennis courts. The arrangements as regards drainage and water supply leave nothing to be desired. There is a first-class steam laundry, with all Messrs. Bradford’s latest improvements. The mansion is artistically decorated and furnished in a most costly manner, and the stables are in excellent repair. The sporting is an important feature of the property; the woods and plantations (which extend over about 400 acres) are especially well dispersed and adapted for the rearing of a large head of game, and the pheasants alone killed amount to between four and׳ five thousand per annum, together with splendid partridge shooting and two thousand rabbits per annum. The estate is within reach of the Dartmoor Hunt and Otter Hounds.
