A slow demand prevailed, but prices were firm at 3s. 9d. to 4s. ; exceptionally 4s. Id. Sheep arrivals amounted to 5,361, which is an increase of 2,796 on last Monday’s numbers, and consisted entirely of South American. A slow trade was experienced. MARK-LANE, March 6.—Only a limited attendance of buyers was present to-day, and with no improvement in the demand, trade ruled extremely quiet. English wheat, being sparingly offered, was steady at late prices, foreign sorts being generally firm. Flour trade ruled dull and weak. Grinding barley was slowly supported but unchanged. Oats tended in buyers׳ favour. Maize remains quiet. Beans and peas slow. The cargo market for wheat has been dull, with prices in buyers’ favour. Late Saturday a steamer containing 2,350 tons Rosario-Santa Fe prompt shipment sold at 27s. 3d. To-day 27s. 3d. was asked for a steamer ditto shipment in 10 days.
