The London coal trade has been unusually busy with stock coal during the past week. Large orders are ’in from the general public and traders are straining every point to comply with the demands. Supplies generally are coming forward more regularly, but the shortage of labour at the wharves and depots is very pronounced. Manufacturing coals are scarce. Slacks are moving freely. Business in Northumberland and Durham coals is dull, owing to the lack of tonnage except on official
