Lamp, and it instantly became a phenomenal success ; so much so that

The Patents of our Competitors and of other persons, for fifty years
back, were reviewed by the two Courts, and the decision in the Appeal Case
was given completely in favour of our Mr. Hailwood’s Patent, the Judge stating
that he was satisfied that the invention
claimed by Mr. Hailwood had not been
claimed in any Complete Specification for a
prior British Patent.
