September 27, 1918. THE COLLIERY GUARDIAN. [supplement PAGE XV.] 683 COAL SAVING BY5CIENT1F1C METHODS IN gg THE BOILER HOUSE- gj The National Interest. —— It is of vital importance that coal should be saved because of shortage | of labour, difficulties of transport, the needs of industry, and the necessity of maintaining exports to our Allies. The best field for coal economy to-day, especially in collieries, is the boiler- house, where in average cases 25-40I of the coal used can be saved. The ' reason is that the business of scientific methods of steam generation is of a very specialised nature. We have been engaged solely and continuously as specialists in this business for 10 years, and we are not amateurs who have taken it up in the last few months. Also we are not interested in the sale of any particular plant, machinery, or appliances, or in any other firm. We are so sure of effecting a saving, as a result of our unique experience, that we are willing to carry out the work on the principle of payment by results. We shall be glad to explain our proposition personally or by letter, and are prepared to visit your Colliery free of charge and give you our opinion of the working of your boiler-plant.
