EXTRACTS FROM THE LETTERS OF A SOLID TYRE USER TO HIS SON.

“If a horse gets a stone in its foot, you know pretty soon that something’s wrong because
the horse goes as lame as a crow. D’you remember those great big picks fitted to the knives
that boys have for birthday presents ? Just the very thing for fetching stones out of horses’
feet, weren’t they?

Your tyres should get just the same treatment. They don’t show lame directly a stone gets wedged
in between the twin tyres or when a sharp bit of road metal works into the rubber tread; but your
tyre’s going lame just the same. The stone is interfering with the cohesion that exists between
the rubber and the vulcanite, and your tyre costs are getting up and shouting. Take these
stones out regularly and remember that it’s the little things that matter in all affairs mechanical.”
