The London market continues very brisk, but the shortage in the arrivals makes the delivery uncertain and slow. House coals are not quite so scarce, but steam coals and kitchener cobbles are very difficult to obtain. The stocks on the ground are diminishing rapidly. Considerable quantities of free coak have been thrown on the Tyne and Wear market in consequence of the shortage of tonnage, and purchases at sub- stantial discounts are possible when prompt shipment can be arranged.
