The Use of Wood-Brake Blocks

on Colliery winding engines is a source of danger from fire. Many instances
have come under our notice where serious damage has resulted owing to
the brake blocks firing. In addition there is the danger df the brakes failing
to act owing to the wood carbonising. These dangers can be eliminated by
the use of Ferodo linings on your brakes. These are absolutely spark-proof
and non-inflammable. They have a far greater co-efficient of friction than wood
and a durability many times greater than Hard Oak. Being non-abradent the
drum surface is maintained highly polished and true, so that the greatest braking
efficiency is constantly maintained. The use of Ferodo linings results in more
coal being wound per day.
