LONDON, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1916. ________________________ The London coal trade continues brisk. The recent cold weather, with fog and snowstorms, has greatly increased the public orders and seriously delayed the arrival of loaded 'Wagons. Seaborne coals have arrived fairly promptly, but railway empties are very short. Very little new business is passing in the Tyne and Wear markets, as the collieries are concerned with overdue orders. Quotations are not materially changed. The old complaint of wagon scarcity is still common in Lancashire and Yorkshire, and some of the collieries report stoppages in consequence of the increased difficulty. Shipping presents another serious trouble. The position shows no improve- ment in Derbyshire, Nottingham, and Leicester-
