HAULAGE GEARS CAR RON Company have one of the best equipped Engineering establishments in the Country, enabling them to test the efficiency of their Haulage Gears under working conditions. They place their ex- perience and manufacturing resources at the disposal of the Coal Mining Trade generally. ' V By Appointment Ironfounders to H M. The King. T IAULAGE No. 453 represents a belt-driven double endless rope TT haulage, having strong, machine-moulded, double helical spur gearing for the first gear. 50 H.P. size wheel has 90 teeth, 2 in. pitch, and a 7 in. working face with strong box section arms. Usually made of specially tough cast-iron, but where liable to sudden strain cast-steel is recommended. Clutches are of coil type, but band clutches may be substituted. A screw type clutch gear enables haulage to pick up its load very gradually. Intermediate wheels, including driving wheel, have machine cut teeth with broad faces, ensuring smooth and practically noiseless running. Large split wrot-iron pulley, keyed to driving shaft, suits a belt of ample width to prevent slipping. Fleeting wheels are shod with 6 removable chilled cast-iron trods of a “ C ” section shape, which have proved the most satisfactory type, after experiment. Bed-plate is of rolled steel joists, with ends composed of rolled channels and suitable chequered foot plate and connecting gussets, angles, &c., very strong and rigid. Instead of brakes Carron Company’s special silent sliding pawl can be fitted, which works most satisfactorily. Main bearings are syphon lubricated, remainder being fitted with self-oiling rings.
