LONDON, FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 1914 The total export figures for the completed year ended December 31 show a big increase over previous years. The aggregate reached 76,687,241 tons, valued at £53,658,636. This compares with 67,035,848 tons, valued at £42,584,454, and 67,271,883 tons, valued at £38,447,354, in the respective years 1912 and 1911. The average value of coal, coke and manufactured fuel exported from the United Kingdom during December was 14s. 0*8d. per ton, as compared with 13s. 2-5d. in December 1912, and 11s. 8'2d. in December 1911. The value during the completed year ended December 31 is 13s. ll*9d. per ton, as compared with 12s. 8‘4d. and Ils. 5*Id. respectively in the corresponding periods of 1912 and 1911. Of the total exports of coal during December, the mean value of the large coal exported was 15s. 6-Id.; through-and-through (unscreened) coal, 12s. 9Td. ; and small coal, 10s. 10’7d. The average value of all kinds of coal exported was 13s. 10’7d., an increase of 0*3d. as compared with the preceding month. Other- wise divided, it fetched the following values:—Steam coal, 14s. l’06d.; gas coal, 13s. 0’08d.; anthracite, 15s. 9’09d.; household coal, 13s, 3*8d. ; and other sorts of coal, 12s. 6-2d. The value of the coke exported was 17s. 7*9d. per ton, and of the manufac- tured fuel 17s. 9 *2d. per ton.
