They should hold a first-class certificate of competency under the English Coal Mines Regulation Act. and should either possess a degree in mining at a recognised college in England, or should have served a regular pupilage under a recognised consulting mining engineer or colliery owner. The salary of the appointment will be Rs. 500 a month (approximately £400 a year) rising by annual increments of Rs. 40 to Rs. 700 (£560 a year). The appointment will be on probation in the first instance for two years. If at the end of the period of probation the Junior Inspector’s appoint- ment is confirmed, his service will become permanent and pensionable. He will also be eligible on approved service for promotion to higher grades of the department. A free passage will be provided.
